This project originally began at the request of a friend who had gone to New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and wanted to put together a video in order to help people in his congregation see what work needed to be done. We were asked to provide a soundtrack for the video. Four of the songs on this recording were written for that purpose and then we put the songs away for over a decade. In 2018, we decided that we wanted to rework the songs and release them for another reason. We had been thinking about how often people suffer through an incredible trauma and initially, those around them show great concern and compassion. Eventually, not as the result of any callousness or insensitivity but just because life moves on, the traumatized often find themselves dealing with their grief and sorrow and pain on their own, and many times they don't know where to turn. We wanted to provide those people with a place to go, a refuge of music in the midst of their ongoing pain. If you are one of those people, we pray with all our heart and soul and strength that you find solace, comfort, and maybe even hope in these songs.
